Yulia Lim

Yulia Lim is the Director of Sustainability at Air Astana and a sustainability and compliance professional with more than 20 years of combined experience in ESG strategy, compliance, risk management, and audit across the aviation and financial sectors. She began her career at one of the Big Four firms, specializing in the audit of banks, including the National Bank of Kazakhstan, and other financial institutions.

In her current role, Yulia is responsible for developing and implementing ESG strategies and sustainability initiatives across Air Astana. Previously, she led the company’s Compliance and Economic Security function, where she established compliance processes from the ground up, covering anti-corruption measures, sanctions compliance, business ethics, and data protection.

Yulia holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics from KIMEP University. She is currently pursuing an MBA in Aviation Management at Danube University Krems (Austria). She is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and recently completed an executive education program at Henley Business School in the United Kingdom.

In 2023, Yulia joined the Kazakhstan Compliance Association (KZ Compliance Association) as a Subject Matter Expert and currently serves as Vice President for Digital Transformation and Sustainability. In this role, she shares her expertise in ESG and compliance with the professional community in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. She also leads the development of the Association’s YouTube channel by overseeing content strategy, inviting industry experts, and moderating webinars to promote professional knowledge sharing.

In addition, Yulia is a member of the Environmental Committee of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA), a frequent speaker at industry conferences and professional forums, and a mentor to fourth-year students participating in KIMEP University’s Leadership Development Program.
