Yuliya Lim

Yuliya is an accomplished sustainability and compliance executive with over 20 years of combined experience in ESG strategy & compliance, risk management, and auditing across the aviation and financial sectors. She began her career at one of the Big 4 accountancy firms, specializing in auditing banks (including the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and other financial institutions. Currently, as the Chief Sustainability Officer, Yuliya is responsible for developing and implementing ESG strategies and sustainability practices. Previously, she oversaw compliance and economic security matters, which included anti-corruption measures, sanctions compliance, ethical standards, and data protection, having built these processes from scratch.

Yuliya graduated from the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics, and Strategic Research (KIMEP) with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics. She is currently pursuing an MBA in Aviation Management at the Danube University Krems (Austria). She is a certified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and recently completed an executive leadership program at Henley Business School (UK).

Initially joining the KZ Compliance Association as a Subject Matter Expert in 2023, Yuliya currently serves as Vice President of Digital Transformation and Sustainability. In this role, she shares her extensive expertise in ESG and compliance with the professional community in Kazakhstan and neighboring countries. She also leads the development of the Association’s YouTube channel, curating content, inviting speakers, and moderating webinars to promote knowledge sharing within the community.

In addition, Yuliya is a member of the Environmental Committee of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines, a frequent speaker at industry forums and conferences, and mentors fourth-year students as part of a KIMEP Leadership Development Program.
