Marcelo Carvalho

Marcelo Carvalho is a global macroeconomist, keynote speaker, and advisor specializing in the intersection of geopolitics, macroeconomics, financial markets, and business strategy.

He is currently a Senior Research Associate at ODI Global in London and previously served as Global Head of Economics and Global Head of Emerging Markets Research at BNP Paribas, where he led teams across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Before joining BNP Paribas, he held senior economist positions at Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, and the International Monetary Fund.

Marcelo has more than 30 years of experience analyzing global economic and financial developments and advising institutional investors, corporations, and policymakers. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and executive education programmes, with a particular focus on the implications of geopolitical fragmentation, monetary policy, global capital flows, and emerging markets for business leaders and financial institutions.

He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
