Ali Alaskarov has been working in the banking sector since 2016, specializing in financial markets operations, liquidity management, and institutional relations. He currently serves as Head of Financial Markets Operations at Xalq Bank, where he oversees the bank’s market activities, liquidity management, and transactional flows across currency and money markets, ensuring alignment with the bank’s strategic funding and ALM objectives.
Ali’s responsibilities include managing foreign exchange operations, monitoring open currency positions, trading fixed-income securities, and developing relationships with correspondent banks. He also supervises forward and swap transactions, market reporting to the Central Bank, and daily P&L estimation in FX trading.
Prior to his current role, he served as Chief Specialist and Senior Specialist within the same division, where he played a key role in streamlining FX and money market operations and implementing market infrastructure enhancements.
Before joining Xalq Bank, Ali worked at Bank of Baku, where he managed correspondent banking relationships, oversaw nostro and loro accounts, and supported international funding and trade finance activities.
Ali combines practical expertise in market operations with strategic insight into liquidity and balance-sheet management, contributing to Xalq Bank’s operational and financial resilience.
