Member of the Board and Chief Financial Officer
Bauyrzhan Kosbassarov is a Member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of Freedom Life. With more than 15 years of experience spanning corporate finance, investments, business valuation, and transformation management, he is responsible for the company’s financial strategy, the development of its financial management framework, and initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and introducing innovative technologies within the insurance sector.
He holds a Master’s degree in Finance from Edinburgh Business School, University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom), earned through the prestigious Bolashak International Scholarship Programme. He began his career in audit and financial analysis before building extensive expertise in corporate finance, business valuation, investment analysis, and asset management.
Over the course of his career, he has worked on projects across commercial real estate, petrochemicals, and the mining industry, contributing to investment analysis, transaction support, capital-raising initiatives, and business development projects. He led finance functions at Dostyk Trans Terminal LLP and Investors Club LLP, where his responsibilities included financial management, business valuation, transaction advisory, investment analysis, and corporate development.
Throughout his professional journey, Bauyrzhan has been involved in the delivery of infrastructure, investment, and international projects across logistics, natural resources, trading, and financial services. His experience covers a broad range of disciplines, from financial modelling and asset valuation to investment management and the development of long-term financial strategies.
For the past five years, he has been responsible for the financial strategy and transformation agenda of Freedom Life. Under his leadership, the company has implemented major initiatives to enhance its finance function, adopt the IFRS 17 international financial reporting standard, and accelerate the development of digital solutions within the insurance business. His combined background in consulting, investment management, and corporate finance enables him to build effective financial processes and support the company’s sustainable growth in an evolving market environment.
Since 4 May 2026, Bauyrzhan has served as a Member of the Management Board of Freedom Life.
Outside of work, he is passionate about boxing, motorsports, and performance automobiles.
